About us
Poetry Slam is a creative and entertainment club that features Dickinson talent in poetic interpretation and voice acting. With the right pace, tone, and pitch, competitors deliver a performance meant to move, shock, or pique audiences.
Poetry Slam is modeled in part after the Poetry Out Loud competition, a national voice competition program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and The Poetry Foundation. Students who win in school competition move on to regionals (February 25, 2020, state (March 17, 2020), and national competitions (April 27-29, 2020).
The Dickinson Poetry Slam Club seeks not only performers but also poets in order to increase membership and interest. It also increases our chances to win at Poetry Out Loud.
